Challenge

Hospital managers and, especially, health plan administrators need to constantly track key metrics to make informed decisions with autonomy.

However, management reports are often ineffective when they lack reliable data or fail to provide actionable insights for operational monitoring. Additionally, we noticed that managers often requested data without a clear understanding of why they needed it.

With this in mind, we developed Nilo Analytics, a platform where all insights were shaped directly from user needs, identified through design thinking and co-creation sessions.

Our main goal was not only to provide access to data but to ensure that managers received truly relevant indicators - not just what they thought they needed, but what was actually valuable for their business and operations, empowering them to make strategic decisions with confidence.

To achieve this, I conducted an in-depth study of key metrics, allowing me to define and suggest the most meaningful insights in a way that was both simple to consume and strategically useful.

My Contribution

Together with the PM of the project, I understood the business needs and goals for this new product. After this step I led sessions of co-creation with potential users, to understand their needs.

Later in this process, I did competitor analysis, UX and UI studies, prototypes, user tests and finally followed the implementation.

Understanding pain points and users goals

Over several weeks, I worked with a group of managers and our Customer Success team to gain a holistic understanding of operational processes and managerial needs.

After structuring this research into clear documentation, we categorized the information into thematic pages, ensuring clarity and usability.

Validation

Concepts and formulas

Another key challenge was standardizing all data types used in the project. We meticulously documented the concepts and formulas behind each indicator.

This comprehensive validation process became the foundation for the engineering team to build the data architecture.

UI Design

Once the information architecture was validated, my focus shifted to transforming complex data into a simple and functional interface.

I worked side by side with the engineering team, ensuring that every experience I designed was feasible to implement. This close collaboration allowed us to validate technical constraints early and refine solutions together.

Leveraging the company's design system, I created new components tailored to this product's unique needs.

The goal was to present high volumes of data in a way that is clear, visually appealing, and actionable, while ensuring that our design choices aligned with technical feasibility.
